Where: Montcabrier, France
Deadline: open call
Atelier de la Rose is small. That means it is able to offer a personal and flexible service that is unique. There are no fixed dates for residencies, no deadlines, and the studio can be booked for one to six weeks. This is not an establishment that is run by managers or an impersonal organisation or committee. The owner lives on site and has had a long involvement with the visual arts. She has 2 degrees in art and design history and was married to the artist and lecturer, Ed Herring, until his untimely death in 2003. Her understanding of how artists work makes the place special. Of course the facilities, situated in a medieval hilltop village in southwest France, are the additional attractions!
