The Eldon + Anne Foote Edmonton Visual Arts Prize was established with the generous support of the Eldon + Anne Foote Fund at Edmonton Community Foundation and in partnership with the Edmonton Arts Council and Visual Arts Alberta Association. This Visual Arts Prize, now in its third year, celebrates the brilliance of Visual Artists in Edmonton.
An independent jury composed of three art professionals from outside the Edmonton area evaluated submissions and a short list of three Edmonton Visual Artists emerged. from the long list composed of five artists announced at the beginning of May (Note: the names of the three jury members will be announced and acknowledged on June 19th with the announcement of the winner of the Eldon + Anne Foote Edmonton Visual Arts Prize).
The announcement of the short listed artists applauds the vibrancy of the Greater Edmonton Art Scene). The short listed artists for the third Eldon + Anne Foote Edmonton Visual Arts Prize in alphabetical order with the nominating gallery in brackets are : Allen Ball (MCPAG, Stony Plain, AB), Sean Caulfield / Royden Mills (Strathcona County Gallery @ 501, Sherwood Park, AB) and Brenda Draney (Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton) .
