The Town of Stony Plain is pleased to announce a competition for the design and installation of three-dimensional artwork(s) that will be permanently installed in Hall Park. Hall Park is an open green space located at 4800 56 Ave in the ‘Old Town South’ area of Stony Plain.

Hall Park was chosen as a location for an art park due to its large size and high visibility to the public. This currently underutilized park is also scheduled for trail rehabilitation in 2025, and in conjunction with this competition, the Town hopes to increase community usage of the space. Over time, the park will continue to grow as a cultural destination, with additional artwork being added regularly.

This opportunity will be evaluated in two stages. Stage 1 is an Expression of Interest (EOI), with a submission deadline of Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM MST. No concept proposal is required at this stage. Artists shortlisted from Stage 1 will proceed to Stage 2, where they will be asked to submit a concept and will receive compensation ($2,500) for their submission.

The total commission available for the final artwork(s) is $90,000 CAD (all inclusive, excluding GST), and must cover all costs associated with the design, fabrication, transportation, and on-site installation requirements of the Work. Dependent on the proposals received and budgetary constraints, the Town may choose more than one (1) proponent for this competition.
