ESCAPE: JUDITH MARTIN, ANN HAESSEL
April 29 to June 5, 2010
Opening Reception: May 6, 7 to 9:30 pm
Judith Martin would like to take you on a journey into a world of colour, line, light, places, moods, and seasons by means of exploring pastels and oil painting. Judith is passionate about landscapes and examines how to play with light in different seasons, as well as through different weather conditions. Her paintings feature light dancing across fields of canola in full bloom, sunlight reflected on birch trees, and light sparkling through shadows in nature.
Ann Haessel, a well known international artist, will be exhibiting her mixed media art that was inspired by her time in Cambodia, as well as her many three dimensional pieces that have been created from her other travel experiences and her creative spirit. Her mixed media art explores inequality, living standards, and cultural differences throughout the world. Ann’s extensive travels have sensitized her to the similarities and differences among people in different cultures-their clothes, their behavior, their religious symbols, the types of houses. While there are visual differences, there are also many similarities among disparate cultures, and these differences and similarities are reflected in Ann’s work. ~~ Ann Haessel B. Ed., SCA
