Board Call 2024

CARFAC Alberta is a non-profit provincial arts service organization and the CARFAC National affiliate. We work to make being a professional artist in Alberta easier through advocacy, educational and professional development, and advancing best practices to create environments where artists are treated professionally in their creation, production, and exhibition.

Our mission is to advance best practices for all visual artists in Alberta through advocacy, education, and engagement. We envision a province where visual artists thrive, where artwork is valued, rights are respected, and creativity is recognized as being integral to our communities. We work to improve socioeconomic conditions for all artists, responding to the changing needs of Alberta visual artists.

Our main focus for the next two years is to build our capacity to engage in equity and anti-racism work. We want to prioritise organizational learning, lived experiences, embracing challenges, and redistributing power in ways that truly reflect anti-racism, embracing a continual practice of reflection and growth. If you are passionate about supporting all visual artists in Alberta by helping us co-create active anti-racist leadership and programming through strategic planning and more, we would love to connect with you.

Typically our Board of Directors meets virtually in the evenings, 4-6 times a year, with much of our governance happening through additional committee work. This is an ideal opportunity to help strengthen our organization at a transformative time when advocating for arts and culture in Alberta is as important as ever. We are seeking new board members in advance of our Annual General Meeting in October, 2024.

To apply to join the board, please send your CV, a letter of interest to our Board President; Todd Janes at toddjane@gmail.com
